EDUCATING AND CONNECTING PEOPLE THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY
9/8/2014 - Diane Racey - An iconic part of American literature is the whitewash bucket and fence from “Tom Sawyer” located outside the boyhood home of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain. “Old Town” Hannibal, MO is dedicated to keeping that history alive.

Becky Thatcher's House
Main Street has a museum, many antique shops, art galleries, eateries, and of course, souvenir shops. Hannibal hosts many annual events. A comprehensive guide can be found at www.visithannibal.com. Probably at its best in summer, it’s a fun place to step back in time and capture some special images.

Boyhood Home
In an area geared heavily to the tourist trade, everywhere you look there are references to one of our best known authors. Across from his home are his father’s law office and the house of Laura Hawkins who was the basis for Becky Thatcher, Tom’s sweetheart.

Law Office of John Clemen
A short walk down Hill Street from these takes you to Glascock’s Landing on the mighty Mississippi. There a statue of Clemens as a riverboat pilot graces a rose garden. Nearby is the landing for the “Mark Twain”, a paddlewheel tour boat.
